Blue crown conures are predominantly green parakeets with great features. These birds are extremely smart and intelligent, they have the ability to learn speech and mimic sounds from humans. This parrot is a popular pet bird because it is easier to care for. Blue crown conures are social birds, attention seekers, and they develop special bonds with humans.
The blue crown parakeet is also called the blue crown conure, blue crown budgie, or sharped tailed conure. It is a small green parrot with a pale beak and blue head. This specie is found in large parts of South America such as eastern Columbia and northern Argentina. Their habitat is savanna, woodlands, forest margins. The blue crown conure is a medium-size bird of about 37cm in length and weighs 140-190g. The species are born with a red patch on their heads but they are predominantly green birds with dull blue colours on their forehead, ears, crown cheeks, breast feathers are tinged with blue but are commonly green, the tail has top green feathers, its legs are pink brown with grey brown claws, its eyes have a ring of white featherless skin in captivity and bright orange yellow in the wild.
Blue crown conures nest in tree holes, the female lays about 4 white eggs in a clutch, incubates them for 26 days and the chicks leaves the nest 52 days after hatching. In aviculture, blue crown parakeets are called blue crown conures. They are good talkers and social as compared to other parakeets. They are popular pet birds with a reputation as one of the best and easy parrots to live with. These parrots are high energy birds, smart, intelligent, and requires a lot of attention from their parents. Great pet store that specializes in birds. I bought a baby conure from here and he’s very healthy and happy. They offer $30 DNA tests for baby birds and $5 grooming for birds on Sundays/Mondays. I’ve gotten both services for my conure and can’t complain. The staff is extremely knowledgable and can answer any questions you might have. They do get busy so don’t be afraid to grab a staff member and tell them what you need. Their food and toy selections are also extensive. They also sell dog/cat food, etc., but its primary focus is on our feathered friends 🙂

I only have great things to say about this shop. I have frequented Hansen Parrots over the last couple years. I recently made the decision to purchase a bird. Great place to get a pet bird if you are in the market for one. Hansen Parrots staff cares greatly for their animals and one can tell by just walking up to a cage and seeing birds lean in for scritches. The babies are hand fed with love and the staff especially Melanie knows the birds intimately with all their little personalities and quirks. I am grateful for everything!!!!!

If you are buying a baby bird, they can’t go home with you until they are weaned, but you can come in and bond and play with them until they are old enough to go home with you. I think this is incredibly smart as the bird gets all the care and socialization it needs in it’s tender age and also gets to know the owner so it is less stressed when it goes home. They also have a great array of toys and bird food as well as stuff for cats and dogs as needed. Definitely come in and drop by for a visit and give this little gem a go!

I brought home a baby Blue Crowned Conure last December. My baby is a sweetheart with some attitude. He loves head scratches! He comes when called too, but the boy does not like to land on my arm. He likes my head! He flies to me first thing in the morning! My mom likes to think he’s like my little shadow. Avi even likes eating with me! A friend who lives in nearby with a cranky parrot has talked highly of this store. An unexpected sudden trip necessitated my blue crowned conure nails and wings clipped to be accepted for boarding at a friends’ place or commercial boarding caused me to call Hansen, the owner as my usual local spot was unable to help in the short time I had before departure. He had no appointments for two days. I thanked him and was literally moving to hang up my phone when his voice came back at me “Wait a minute. What’s your number. Let me see what I can do.” There must have been disappointment in my voice, I guess. Minutes later, the phone rang and he offered to complete these tasks right away. 45 minutes later I was in the store. Delightful warm and friendly staff, clean and well-stocked shelves. He even offered to board my bird if things didn’t work out with my boarding arrangements. It doesn’t get better than this. I will be back soon…
