Crimson bellied conure commonly know as crimson bellied parakeet and is often referred to as the pearly conure is a small specie of parrot in the family Psittacidae. It is one of the most colourful conures in the conure world. These parakeets are smart, intelligent, active, lively and are vocal when they are excited. They enjoy human company, so you should be ready to give them maximum attention.
Crimson bellied conure or crimson bellied parakeet is a relative to the pearly conure or pearly parakeet. These birds are found in the south-central Amazon rainforests of Bolivia and Brazil. This parrot have a yellow-green cheek, brown breast with pale white and dark brown barring, blue collar on their hindneck, red bend wings, brown-red tail, brown-grey beak, bare-white eye rings, and dark brown eyes. Crimson parakeets weighs about 85-94g. This conure feeds on fruits, palms and flowers. They live for 20 years or more and the most distinguish and attractive feature of this bird are the crimson-red coloured lowered abdomen. Juveniles looks almost the same like adults but their abdomen is slightly green, dark irises and duller plumage. Both male and female look alike and it is a little bit difficult to differentiate a male from a female.
Crimson bellied conures are quiet and can be loud when they are excited. They are active and lively, so a lot of space is required for them for them to fly freely. These birds will be very healthy if you provide them with the necessary nutrition and good environment. These parakeets enjoy to chew, so providing them with a reasonable amount of tree branches and toys to chew will be very satisfying, and this will urge them to provide entertainment as well. Crimson bellied conures are good in learning new tricks. They can be taught to speak some few words. Although they are generally quieter than most other parakeets, but they are still noisier than some cockatiels or budgies. I love Hansen Parrots! I’ve been a client for about 6 months but today they got even better as my first delivery arrived. Their new delivery/refill program lets you place a repeating order for anything you need (in my case parrot food) and they’ll deliver it to your door. Nice! They delivered on time, came up my three flights of stairs, and even left a follow up message to confirm everything was as I requested (it was). I don’t know why anyone would go anywhere else–the products are great, the pricing is competitive, Hansen is super sweet and warm, and now they have a delivery service. They answered all my questions and gave me plenty of advice! Even when I was choosing toys and accessories for the cage, she had me put a few of them back because they either weren’t appropriate for a new baby bird, or wouldn’t be the right size(even though the picture on the package said it would be). They don’t care about trying to get you to spend more and more money. They want you to get the items that will be the best for the well-being of your bird! I’m so glad I found this place! I highly recommend them. I have had birds for the last 25 years and have gone to many different places. Hansen Parrots has been the best I have ever seen and I’m sorry it took me so long to discover it. You can see the love and care the have for the birds they offer and even the birds of all their customers. I am sure I will be writing a follow up review once I bring my sun conure home. From what I could tell so far, all the birds there appear to be happy, healthy, and full of energy!

Hansen, Melanie and the rest of the staff treat every customer like their neighbor. The care and love that goes into their store becomes apparent when you see how happy their flock is in the back. TINY place packed with stuff for all animals. I guess birds are the owners’ passion so there are a lot of bird things but as a 3-bird person, I like their selection of healthy, holistic or organic bird treats I haven’t found elsewhere and the price seems comparable to other ones. Parking in the area is usually so easy to me and it’s more of a neighborhood place for birds.

So i got a parrot, a rescue, sun conure. Took her over to Hansen Parrots for some treats, food and toys. I liked the fact that they were all about her well being, all about green, her temperament, being a stray, who knows what she had gotten into her brain as a youth. Robert, the new employee talks to all the birds and you just feel comfortable knowing he’s in their charge. Now when we go in to get some food or treats or such, she bounds in like she owns the place. Hansen, the owner, has all kinds of cool, green stuff for pets.

I have 2 crimson bellied conures that I have purchased from Hansen Parrots at different times. All the birds I got have been hand fed healthy and really sweet. But the real reason I keep coming back is the customer service and the fact they really care about the animals. Today one of my conures that I got in July broke a blood feather. He looked a mess blood in various spots from messing with it. Looking for vets you don’t find many that handle birds and fewer open on Sunday with Covid -19 going on. I called Hansen Parrots to see who they use. They told me to come down and they would do a quick check to see how he was. and help if they could. They removed the feather and my bird is doing well. Thank you Hansen Parrots for saving me a costly vet visit and for being on top of your game. All of your staff have always been professional and helpful. I can’t say enough positive things about The Hansen Parrots! I picked up my little baby 2 months ago and she has been amazing from day one! It’s wonderful to see her personality develop and it really helped that she was hand fed by the owner of the store. He did a phenomenal job at making sure the birds he has are comfortable with humans as well as already used to a healthy diet!
