Goffin Cockatoos are among the smaller cockatoo species. You cannot differentiate a male from a female because they have similar characteristics. The undersides of the bird’s wing and tail feathers have a yellowish tinge, the same as all members of the cacatuoidea family. These birds are found in tanimbar islands archipelago in Indonesia, Puerto Rico and Singapore. They are also known as the tanimbar corella or the blushing cockatoo, and their large avicultural population breeds in captivity. It is crested with, and it body is covered with pink and white feathers between it beak and eyes. The underside of its wing and tail feathers has a yellowish tinge, pale grey beak, and brown-brown eyes.
These cockatoos are good with sound. Goffin cockatoos are capable of learning sound and imitate speech if hand-raised from hatching. They are good pet birds because they are generally friendly, social, and are quieter than the large cockatoos. This parrot is also intelligent and will learn, copy new tricks if properly trained. In captivity, they can develop self-destructive behaviours by plucking off their feathers if they not have an interesting enriching environment. A research involving scientists from University of Oxford and University of Vienna shows that a goffin cockatoo possessed the ability to solve complex mechanical problems.
