The moluccan cockatoo (salmon-crested cockatoo) is found in eastern Indonesia, Hawaii, and it is one of the largest cockatoo specie. Moluccan cockatoo is one of the most beautiful parrots because of its striking appearance and wonderful temperament. The female is usually larger than the male. The bird has white-pink feathers, a slight yellow on the underwing and underside of the tail, a large retractable crest, and a bright red orange that plumes to frighten attackers. It has one of the most loudest calls in the parrot world and mimics very well in captivity. In the wild, they eat seeds, fruits, nuts and insects off the ground. Salmon-crested cockatoos are vulnerable species.
Moluccan cockatoos are very popular for their beauty, this makes them very special popular in trained bird shows. This parrot is one of the most demanding parrot to keep as a pet bird because of their high intelligence, noise level, large size, and chewing habits. They also require large cages or aviary due to their size. This bird is highly social, gentle, affectionate, extremely cuddly, and they need attention and activity to remain healthy. Attention and training from their owners is highly important because moluccan cockatoos can develop behavioural and health problems by plucking their feathers if not provided with appropriate attention.
